Our experienced team start the process by carrying out all earthworks either by hand or with a bobcat. We then level the sand followed by wetting and compacting the area. Proper ground prep is essential in ensuring your aggregate concrete will keep it looking great for decades to come.
Our team will then install formwork to all areas where exposed concrete will be poured. For added support we also install mesh to all areas where concrete will be poured. Expanding foam is used between concrete and any existing walls. The concrete is then delivered and poured from one of our concrete trucks.
Once the exposed concrete is poured we pressure wash off the top layer to expose the aggregate. We then clean and seal the entire site. Adding coats of sealer will make your aggregate or concrete last longer and look better over time by creating a layer of protection between the flooring and the damages caused by sun, dirt, rain and chemicals.

Maintaining exposed aggregate is extremely easy and can be done in 2 simple steps:
1. Wash. Start by giving your aggregate concrete a high-pressure wash to remove any mould, moss and loose dirt. For more stubborn areas you may need to apply a mild acid and scrub with either a broom or brush.
2. Seal. Ensure that all the above has been removed as they may cause an uneven finish or gaps. Be vigilant in choosing what type of sealant you are going to use as this will affect how your aggregate is going to look.
Exposed aggregate and honed aggregate are both made of the same materials explaining why they both are available in the same stones and colour variations. Washed aggregate has a coarse texture produced by letting the stones and other materials being visible on the top of the concrete layer. Honed aggregate however is ground down so it feels smooth and comfortable to be walked on barefoot.
Exposed aggregate is often less expensive than you think but there are a number of factors you need to to know when requesting a quote. Our starting prices for exposed aggregate starts from $85 per m2 plus GST.
Include this in your budget as this always requires more work and quantity, no matter how small you think it is.
